Is it just me or does it seem that some people don"t really "get" the idea of a status update on Facebook? I am a huge fan/user of this social networking site and I really do want to know what my friends are up to. Going out of your house today? Where to? Planning a wonderful vacation/event? I want to know more. Looking forward to a fun day with friends and/or family -- give me details. Thought provoking quotes? Send them my way! Want to talk about a favorite show or movie? Me too. Proud of your kids, spouse, friends, or yourself and want to brag? Go for it? Want to vent about those same people? I hear ya! Have something that will make me laugh? I could probably use it. Need some motivation/encouragement/pity party today? I hope I can help.
BUT when some friends post their status as "woke up and had a bowl of oatmeal" -- well, quite frankly, I don't give a damn. And PLEASE stop writing your status as "IS." Is what? Annoying? Bored? At a loss for words? I promise you, it's really okay if you don't update your status constantly!
I believe that if you have nothing to say it IS really okay to say nothing. Please don't fill my TOP NEWS and MOST RECENT updates with the status "Jane Smith is". Yeah, I get it! You're still alive and breathing. Was there reason for me to doubt that? Are you doing anything today? If you are, I'd love to know. You might inspire me to do something too. If you're doing nothing at all but feel compelled to change your status from yesterday's thoughts, hitting the CLEAR button below your status is socially acceptable.
Sorry for the rant today. I just feel like I've been missing a lot of "good posts" from some friends lately because it takes too long to filter through the crap.
Anyway, these were just my thoughts for today. What are yours?
